Isaiah 62: 6-7 - Watch and Pray

Exposition

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem – God has called His servants to be on watch duty over the Church and the people. They are called to watch and pray for the government and the nation state too. As an adult man or woman, it is your responsibility to watch for your family too.

The watchman is meant to be on the lookout for the enemy approaching the city gates and informing the soldiers of what is about to happen.  It is safe to assume that many know that our adversary, the devil goes about seeking whom to devour. Therefore there is an urgent need for you to be diligent and courageous in your watchman duties. Today the adversary uses new methods in trying to breach your defenses, so it is imperative that you wake up and stand firm, refusing to be mincemeat for it to swallow.

Take a moment to understand that the scripture says, ‘I have set’. God has set means He has empowered you and you have all it takes as you depend on Him to help you in your duties.

which shall never hold their peace day nor night, ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, and give him no rest,  - The watch man is on duty all the time. 1 Thessalonians 5: 17 tell us to pray without ceasing. Luke 18: 1b says that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. Persistence is required by you. This means you are meant to sleep with one eye open. The watch man is ever ready; the scriptures are a part and parcel of your being. You know your rights as a child of God and you are enforcing the victory that Christ gave to you on the cross of cavalry.

till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth You are to continue to pray until your prayers are answered. After all the Bible says you should continue to ask until your joy is full. You are being encouraged to continue in prayer until such a time that the Church and its members become famous, a time when the outsider will indeed see you and declare that you are blessed by God. In answer to your prayers, there will be an increase in the House of God on every side, there will be unity and the love of Christ will wax strong.

Prayer

Help me to walk in the available grace to watch on behalf of the Church and my family. Grant me the required resilience I need as a watch man. Help me to tarry in the place of prayer. Open my eyes to all the tools for victory at all times. Help me to desire a deeper relationship with You.  Let my voice be respected in heaven at all times. I ask for speedy answers to all my prayers in Jesus name. I pray that I will always have a reason to praise You every day of my life in Jesus name. Amen.

Isaiah 56:7 - House of Prayer

Exposition

Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all peopleVerse 6 of this chapter tells us that the Lord will bring sons of strangers into His holy mountain. That is an indication to you and I that we must live the gospel. It is our business to present the gospel to all we come into contact with and they should be invited to Church.

Taking a cue from this verse, you should encourage them that there are blessings awaiting them when they come to Church. Let them know that their coming to Church is not an accident as the Lord Himself is involved in their coming.

A benefit of going to Church and enjoying God’s presence is that all who come in, no matter the challenges will be made joyful as Psalm 16:11 says in the presence of God there is fullness of joy and at His right hand, there are pressures forevermore.
You’d see that offerings and sacrifices to the Almighty God are accepted on the altar. What a privilege!!

The Church building has been consecrated to God as a place of worship; that is why it is known as His House and it is holy. The Church is a place where prayer is offered unto the Almighty. He has been answering the prayers of His children and He still does.

There is an urgent need for prayer in the nations. We are in the last days and satan continues to war against the children of God trying to take as many with him to hell which has been prepared for him. The doors of the Church are open, let us join hands and hearts together for the kingdom of God to come indeed.

You can also decide to make your home a house of prayer. I can assure you that God will be well pleased. Remember that as you do the Master’s will, you have the assurance of answered prayer. 1 John 5:14-15 says - And this is the confidence that we have in him that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Prayer

I ask for boldness to be able to share the gospel. I ask for boldness to stand up to be identified as a Christian. I reject every form of fear in Jesus name. Help me Lord to invite neighbours to Church. Let my offering and my sacrifices be acceptable to you in Jesus name.
I would like my home to become a house of prayer. Pour the spirit of prayer upon me. Help me Father to develop my relationship with you, such that I won’t do anything without consulting you. Amen

Psalm 6:8-9 - God Hears Prayer

Exposition

Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer - Reading this Psalm from the beginning before our text tells us that the writer must have been in great physical pain. He also believed that his suffering was a result of God’s displeasure with him. Despite his thinking that his situation was a result of punishment by God, he still turned to God for the solution.

You will always have a choice of who to turn to when the inevitable challenges arrive at your doorstep. It is your responsibility to make the right choice. In affliction the writer turned to God as his helper in the time of distress. God is our ever present help in times of trouble. When we are wounded, He cures, when we are down, He is the lifter up of our head. Looking elsewhere is a waste of time as no one has the capacity to solve problems completely except the Almighty God because with Him all things are possible.

The writer groaned and he cried. You should understand that you can go to God without hiding your feelings. It is alright to cry to your Maker. He promises to turn sorrow into joy. Be certain that Jesus Christ is interceding on your behalf and God will not turn away from His Son.

Be convinced that God hears your petitions and He sees what you are going through. The bible says the fervent prayer of the righteous avails much – makes a difference and your prayers will always be heard in Jesus name. The Holy Spirit in you will always help you pray in a manner that will cause God to answer speedily. Isaiah 65:24 says, and it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

Hold on to this promise. It is well with you in Jesus name.

Prayer

Jehovah, I call on you this day, heal my hurts. So many things bring tears to my eyes, let my tears have a voice, wipe away my tears and let your name be glorified. I know my righteousness is as filthy rags before you, let the righteousness of Christ wash me clean today and always in Jesus name.
You have said while I am yet speaking, you will hear me. Let it be so in Jesus mighty name. Amen
