1 Samuel 17: 37 - He Will Deliver Me

Exposition

The Philistine armies had gathered for battle against the army of Israel. Goliath, champion of the Philistines who weighed around 800lbs and must have been about 9ft 6ins tall had dared anyone to come out and partake in a winner takes all fight. He did this for 40 days!!
The Bible says that Israel’s army led by King Saul was dismayed and afraid. None of them was bold enough to respond to the taunts of Goliath.

The situation the army of Israel faced is no different from that faced by every child of God. We have an enemy – satan who goes about like a lion seeking whom to devour. The devil is all bark with no bite because our Lord Jesus Christ fought and defeated satan. The devil uses fear just as Goliath did and we all should know that God has not given us the spirit of fear. Rather we have the spirit of power, of love and a sound mind.

David appeared on the scene and he heard the words of Goliath. He was so incensed that an uncircumcised Philistine could stand up to defy the army of the Living God.  He immediately offered to fight Goliath and Saul was informed of his offer. Saul questioned David’s ability because he was a youth. David told Saul with confidence, I have numerous testimonies. He said not once but twice has the Lord delivered me when I was attacked, both times I killed the animals. As I did then, I will do to Goliath.

Based on your experience of God, like David, you should be confident that every challenge that comes your way, you will overcome. Luke 10:19 says behold, I have given you the authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. You have power with God. Your confidence is based on the truth in the word of God. Isaiah 54:15 says behold, they shall surely gather together, but not from me: whosoever shall gather together against you shall fall for your sake.

Stand firm today and enforce the victory that was won for you on the cross by the Lord Jesus. No matter how long the situation has existed just like the Philistines bullied the army of Israel for a while, the Lord will deliver you as He has promised.

Prayer

I receive boldness based on your promises to stand against every challenge from satan and agents in Jesus name. I reject every situation organised to put fear into me in Jesus name. Thank you for I have power with you. Thank you for giving me victory on every side in Jesus name. Amen

Colossians 1:13 - Transferred into the Kingdom of Jesus

Exposition

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son – satan rules over the affairs of those who have not accepted that Jesus Christ died for their sins and His Lordship over them. The power of satan over such people keeps them in the ignorance of what Jesus Christ did for the whole world on the cross of Calvary.

By the special grace of God, deliverance happens when the only One who can deliver any held by satan, shines His light into the inner recesses of the heart of the man and the scales which have shielded the man bound, drop off and satan has no choice but to disappear. Light always overcomes darkness.

The translation is a transfer from one kingdom to another, the kingdom of Jesus Christ here on earth. The power of sin is broken and there is a submission to the power of Jesus Christ. The laws in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ are different and all who are transferred enjoy new benefits. The past was characterized by sin, failure, defeat, misery and ignorance and the new is a lifetime of holiness, joy, peace and knowledge among many other benefits.

The translation of a sinner from darkness to light always sparks rejoicing in heaven because heaven gains a saint.  You might want to submit to the call of Jesus Christ today as you want to partake of what Christ did, take the giant step of faith, by confessing with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Prayer

Thank you, Father because You have delivered me from the power of darkness, and sin has no power over me. I am no longer a slave of satan. I am now a child of God. I have been moved into the kingdom of light. Father let your light surround me at all times. Help me so I never succumb to temptation from satan in Jesus name. Amen

Jeremiah 1:8 - Don't Be Afraid

Exposition

Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD – Jeremiah had received a call to ministry as prophet to the nations and he responded saying that he was a child and he couldn’t speak. The Almighty God assured him in verse 7 that whatever He the LORD commanded Jeremiah to say, he would say and wherever he was instructed to go, he would go.

The LORD who knows the end from the beginning knew Jeremiah was been sent to a rebellious lot and he would be persecuted because of what he would say. Jeremiah was assured by the Almighty that whenever an assignment is issued all materials will be provided.

The same assurance is available to you today. You have received your marching instructions. You know your purpose, you are aware of the gifts that you have been blessed with. Stop wondering, is this the right time? You are saying that the economy is in recession or that someone tried the same idea and failed. It is easy to doubt whether the world is ready to receive you and what you have. It has been ingrained into you that the world is filled with sharks and wickedness and things are not easy.

I encourage you as Jeremiah was encouraged that your gift will make room for you as stated in Proverbs 18: 16. Jeremiah sounded timid but remember that you have not been given the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. You have all round protection by the Lord of Hosts. He has promised to deliver out of every challenge and trap set by the devil.

Rather than looking at the faces of the doubters or those whose agenda is discouragement, start looking up to the face of the Master. Lift up your eyes unto the hills where you are assured of help every day and every minute.

Prayer
Thank you dear Father for choosing me. Thank you for blessing me with all that I need to succeed in life. Help me to focus on you rather than on those you think I can’t succeed. Thank you for your promise of deliverance from the clutches of the evil one and his agents. You will be glorified in every area of my life in Jesus name. Amen

Acts 2:21 - I Call on Jesus

Exposition

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved – The two verses before this one tell a story that is real. On judgement day, there will be blood and fire and smoke. The sun as bright as it is will be turned into darkness and the moon will be turned into blood. My friend, heaven is real, so too is hell.

Romans 6: 23 says the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus. Romans 3: 23 also says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. That is why this is an invitation to the poor and to the rich, the weak and the strong, the bad and the good, the learned and the ignorant that to escape the grip of sin you need to call on Jesus. Jesus wipes away the guilt of sin, sin will not have power over you any longer and that punishment of death is no longer meted out to you.

The one who calls out is helpless and is calling out to the only one that can help in this matter. The Spirit of God will give you conviction that only Jesus can save you. You are calling in faith that He will see you through. As you do so today, you are delivered from the power of evil and at the same time accepted into God’s family of saints.

Prayer

I call on you Lord Jesus. Save me from the power of sin and death. I do not want to continue being half hearted towards you. I choose life not death. I choose heaven and not hell in Jesus name. With your help the door of my heart is open to you forever in Jesus name. Amen.

Luke 11:4 - Forgive Us Our Sins

Exposition

And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us – We commit sin against God and the penalty of sin is death. Only God has the power to forgive and He has given up His Son - Jesus Christ for that purpose. God will forgive all who ask Him for forgiveness. It should be clear from this verse that you can’t continue to harbour evil thoughts and revenge against those who have offended you and still expect God to forgive you.

And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil – Let it be clear in your mind that God does not tempt people. As He is All Powerful, He has the power to save all who come to Him from the tempter who is satan. Without the help of God we are liable to fall into the calamities, traps or trials that the devil has programmed against us.

Prayer

You have promised that you will forgive me if I ask for forgiveness. Please forgive me of all my sins in Jesus name. Wash me clean from the stain of sin in Jesus name. I need help against the daily temptations that I encounter. Help me to walk under your banner so that the evil plans of the enemy are nullified in Jesus name. Amen.

Jeremiah 52:31-32 - Deliverance from the evil king

BIBLE
And in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, graciously freed Jehoiachin king of Judah and brought him out of prison.
And he spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat above the seats of the kings who were with him in Babylon.

PRAYER
No matter how long I have been held bound spiritually and physically, today is the day of my deliverance in Jesus name.
I refuse to stay patiently under bondage. Let every evil king merodach graciously free me now in Jesus name.
Let all who have treated me harshly start to speak kindly to me now whether they like it or not.

I receive my rightful place in a position of authority from this moment in Jesus name. Amen

Psalm 18:3 - He has delivered me

Thoughts

One good reason why the praise of God should always be on our lips is because when we call on him, he is always available to answer us. He doesn’t take holidays and he doesn’t need to sleep like mere mortals. He is God Almighty. We must be aware that our enemy is satan who uses different types of agents to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus Christ has given us victory over satan.
I encourage you to access the victory available to you. Join the family and walk in victory.

Prayer

Thank you because I have access to you and I can call on you at all times.
You are worthy to be praised and I thank you that I am saved from my enemies in Jesus name.
